[HELP] Audacity failed to read from a file in C

Hi everyone,

I’m facing a major issue with a project I was working on in Audacity. Unfortunately, my computer crashed while the project was saving, and now I can’t open the file anymore. I’m getting the error mentioned in the title.

I’ve tried following the procedure suggested by Jademan, which involves downloading Project Tools, using SQLite, and chatting from the terminal. However, I’ve had no luck so far.

Can @jademan PLEASE take a look and try to recover?

I sent you a message regarding this project. When you receive your fixed project file and open it, make sure you go into the View menu and check the ‘Show Clipping in Waveform’ . You will notice a lot of red where the level is too high. I hope that helps.

Which Windows and which Audacity?

Does it crash very often? There is a condition where Audacity crashes all the time but this is the first time it failed to recover.

How long was the Show/Production? Heavily edited?

Do you keep safety Backup Projects? You can just revert to the last backup and keep going, right?

Solved! Thank to Mark! @evilmrb Very precious!

Thanks for the vote of confidence. :grinning: Unfortunately, I cannot do this anymore. :frowning_face:However, it appears that @evilman has been able to repair the file for you. :grinning:

What are we doing to make sure this never happens again? Do you have any answers for the questions in my last post?

Koz

And now you’ve lost my confidence by misnaming me. I’m deeply hurt…

As a workaround, do you think there is any merit in saving a project as a Wav file BEFORE saving as an Audacity project so you always have something to roll back to? This is part of the rationale I use by capturing audio in Ocenaudio and then editing in Audacity (sometimes).

@evilmrb. My apologies. Must have been my fingers that slipped. :grinning:
