I have an HP touch screen computer using Win 10 with one jack for headset or microphone. I’ve used a splitter with microphone and headset plugged in and only headset works. Our podcast will be expanding to off-site interviews and I need to be able to listen in incoming voices as well as hear myself during the recording. Anybody know how to remedy this problem? Please keep it simple as you are dealing with an extremely middle-aged person.
Is the microphone working (recording) and you’re just not hearing it? Does the microphone work alone (without the splitter & headphones)?
It could be tricky finding the right splitter and the right microphone that go together…
FYI- There is always some latency (delay) through the computer and it can be a “fight” getting the latency down to where it doesn’t sound like an echo. (Or there are interfaces direct-hardware monitoring or you can use a mixer, etc.)

Do you mean like an on-location radio/TV interview where both parties share the same mic? Or something more complicated?
