Is it a laptop? How sure are you you’re recording your microphone and not the laptop’s built-in? You can do a scratch test. Start a test recording and scratch each microphone. Never blow into a microphone.

A number of sound systems or products act funny or not at all under Windows 10. It has to say explicitly in the documents that Windows 10 is supported. Does it?
You can’t extend support of win7 through Win8 as being OK further up.
If it does say Win10, do you have the updated drivers and software?
Can you get good quality and volume in the Windows sound control panels? It has to work there before Audacity gets to it.
