GUI Interface Size

Is there a way to reduce the size of the Audacity controls? I do audiobook editing, and need to have several windows open at one time. In order to see the script, the Audacity windows are allocated to the right side of the screen which causes a vertical overlap. The current size (using needed toolbars) is 740 x 445. If this could be reduced to half that height (370 x 445) I could avoid having to buy a costly system with a 4K (3840x2180) display.

Version: Audacity 2.0.6 (same issue with later versions, bu I prefer this one due to the older Noise Removal effect algorithm).

I’ve not checked the exact size in pixels, but that sounds about right for the minimum size.

A cheaper option may be to get an inexpensive second monitor. If you’re using a desktop computer, that may require upgrading your video card or adding a second video card.
Most laptop computers support adding an external monitor in addition to the built-in display.

Is the problem the width or the height? The first measurement in screen resolution is the width.

I assume you have used View > Toolbars to hide unwanted toolbars. Did you know you can float toolbars outside the Audacity window by grabbing their left edge?

Meter Toolbar can be resized using the right edge.
