I have Audacity 2.0.3 and just installed the program. One of the first things it says is to set Preferences and select the Device. That field says “No Devices Found”. I have the cassette player connected with the cable provided and have batteries in it. What do I do to have it show devices? Thank you very much.
If Windows can’t see it - then Audacity won’t be able to see it.
Windows may have “hidden” it.
Go to Sound in your Windows Control Panel and click on the Recording tab
Can you see your device?
If not - right-click in the white space in that dialog and check on Show disabled devices
If it shows as disabled then you can then enable it (right-click and choose enable
It is quite possible that latest Windows update disabled the device (don’t ask me how I know …)

Thank you very much. I can now see it, just as it shows in the instructions.
I have copied and saved one tape (in two formats), but cannot hear the sound. Not sure what to do next.
Do you mean
a) cannot hear sound while recording or
b) cannot hear sound after recording, when trying to play back?

I have upgraded to latest Audacity 2.3.0 and just installed the program. One of the first things it says is to set Preferences and select the Device. That field says “No Devices Found”. I have the ezcap cassette player connected with the cable provided and have batteries in it. I have check under “Sound” in my Windows control panel but couldn’t find the “USB PnP Audio” in the Recording section, i have already search all enable/ disable devices. However i can see this under my Device Manager? Can anyone advise? Thank you very much.
