Generating recording for VOIP

All,

We need to create a custom announcement file in the following format. We have been told that Audacity is the best tool to do this. Can you please provide a step by step procedure to accomplish the same?

REQUIRED FORMAT FOR AUDIO FILE

16-bit PCM 8KHZ, wav format

To create an audio file with Audacity, you need to “Export” (File menu).
The default export format is 16 bit WAV.

Assuming that you have already recorded or imported the audio that you want, into Audacity, you just need to set the “Project Rate” (bottom left corner of the main Audacity window) to 8000, the Export as a WAV file (File menu > Export).

There’s more than one WAV. The common one is Microsoft.
