Fresh, New Audacity 3.1.3 Install?

It is told that you can reset Audacity 3.1.3 Preferences and Settings during an install (a “clean” install) by selecting an option during install. The Mac install consists of moving an icon between two locations. There are no options or selection opportunities. How do you do a Mac clean install?

Koz

That’s only with the Windows installer version.

You can make preferences “nearly clean” using:
“Tools menu > Reset Configuration”

To do a “fully clean” reset requires deleting the three “.cfg” files as in the days of old.
The .cfg files are in ~/Library/Application Support/audacity/

You can make preferences “nearly clean” using:

Clean-ish or Gently Soiled?

Writing that down.

Koz

“Reset Configuration” resets “most” of Audacity’s preferences (the audacity.cfg file).
I don’t recall which prefs are not reset, but it resets all of the important ones.
It does not touch plug-ins.

In the section; “What is not reset”, there is “Update Checking:” and “Check for updates”…

Ahh, I see that has been changed in the alpha manual: https://alphamanual.audacityteam.org/man/Reset_Configuration
