Hi, I am on windows 7 64 bit and I have a Focusrite Scarlett 2i4 interface. The problem is the Scarlett interface appears as an option for the ‘record in’ in Audacity, but even though selected, when pressing record in Audacity no sound is recorded. The interface itself has a visual indicator it is picking up a signal. The live sound of my guitar is played back directly from the interface into my headphones which plug directly into the interface, so there is clearly no problem with the interface. I also have FL studio. FL studio picks up sound from the Scarlett interface when recording and shows a waveform in the audio editor. The problem is, Audacity does not, although it seems to recognize the interface because it is shown as an option for ‘record in.’ When I hit record in Audacity, no waveform appears and nothing plays back when stopped and played. While investigating, in Audacity I selected my Realtek built-in mic on my Lenovo P50 and hit record. Even the built in mic did not produce a waveform and no sound was recorded. Any advice? Thanks.
You don’t say what version of Audacity you have - see the pink panel at the top of the page. I recommend the current Audacity 2.1.2 release from http://www.audacityteam.org/download/windows.
You have to choose the correct recording device in Audacity’s Device Toolbar and turn the recording volume up in Mixer Toolbar:
If you need more help, please post the complete information from Help > Audio Device Info… top right of Audacity.

Hi Gale,
Yes I meant to include that the version is 2.1.2 but I was rather tired. I used the .exe installer. The interface was selected in the Device Toolbar and the recording volume was up while this problem was happening. Here is the Audio Device Info

Please post the complete information from Help > Audio Device Info…, not just the top part. Click the OK button in Audio Device Info and it will offer to save a text file. Then you can attach the file here. Please see here for how to attach files: https://forum.audacityteam.org/t/how-to-attach-files-to-forum-posts/24026/1
Alternatively, right-click inside Audio Device Info, Select All, right-click again, Copy, then paste here.
Also you should be sure you have correct drivers and firmware for the 2i4 according to whether you have the “first generation” or “second generation” model. I suggest you click here https://global.focusrite.com/downloads, choose your 2i4 model and follow the instructions. I know other audio software might not have a problem with your interface but Audacity can be picky about having correct drivers.
