Flat line when recording...first time connection...

I have tried several different ways to connect my keyboard to record to my computer. I have looked extensively at FAQs but nothing is working. I have moments where it will record, and then I try again and…nothing… What am I missing? I have a Korg SP 250 weighted keyboard. I’ve routed an audio cable from the headphone jack to the computer. I have two headphone jacks, so there would be no need for a splitter. Not intending to record vocals, just instrumental.

My OS is Windows 10.

Thanks,

Describe the computer connection. Most single-socket laptop connections are going to fail. They are intended for connection to a headset for conferences or chat. The recording is never going to be stereo and it’s a good bet it’s going to be distorted even if you do get it to work.

I’ve been using a Behringer UCA-202 for my sound mixer or keyboard.

It appears as a plain USB sound connection (both directions) and can be used for Perfect Overdubbing should you want to play all the parts of an orchestra by yourself.
