First Time User - Problem Importing Audio

I’m a new user and recently had a problem importing an audio file. It uploads to the program fine (unusually quickly) but when I play it back, the sound is distorted and not the full length (should be about 1.5 mins), but rather .30 seconds. Any suggestions on what is going on, and/or how to fix the problem. I’m trying to edit the length of the original file for my website. Thanks.

You are almost certainly trying to import a file type that Audacity does not support . Audacity Supports WAV, MP3, OGG and FLAC in 1.3.

If this is the case you have two basic options:

  1. find and use some converter software to convert your file to a type that Audacity supports

  2. play the file in any music software that supports that particular file format and record it in Audacity.
