Audacity version 2.1.3 - Windows 10.
This is probably a dumb question, but I have no idea what I’m doing and would appreciate any input on how to fix this issue.
I can’t seem to search for the solution either, as I don’t know what I’m supposed to even search for.
When trying to record what I hear out of the speakers/headphones on my desktop, loud noise/feedback? occurs even when no noise is present.
Here’s a clip of what happens when I hit record.

You can get odd feedback like that if you have more than one service struggling to use the sound channels.
Did you set yourself up with these instructions?

Do you regularly use Skype, chat, or conferencing? On-line Games?
It’s actually pretty difficult to get screaming feedback like that. Many of the setups involve multiple passes through the computer and that can take up to a second.

That’s a condition, not a job. why do you want to do that? What’s the job? Record both sides of a Skype call for a document? Record a conference for a podcast?

Thank you. I read the instructions and the problem is fixed. Software Playthrough was enabled and causing that issue.
