Filter Curve Application

Audacity 3.0.4.

I’m hoping I’m just missing a tool or control. I want to make a very delicate tonal correction to a voice track. I have selected a representative sample and I have created a custom curve.

Now I need to switch rapidly between curve and no curve (flat). There doesn’t seem to be any way to do that.

I need those two buttons.

[ ] Play with curve.
[ ] Play flat.

Are they there and I just can’t find them?

These two buttons would be good.

[ ] Play with curve repeatedly.
[ ] Stop

There are free plugin equalizers which have a bypass switch which fits your brief,
or even A-B : toggle between 2 filter settings, rather than toggle between a filter setting & null (bypass).

e.g. TDR Nova & Voxenge GEQ,
I’ve only used them in Audacity on Windows, but allegedly they are available in Mac flavour.

So it actually is missing.

Awkward.

If I prepare a correction for someone else, they will need to install the custom software.

A workaround only using native effects would be to create a duplicate track, apply the effect to one track, and toggle between them … https://forum.audacityteam.org/t/bypassing-effects/59512/2

I think we missed each other. SOLO and MUTE will not switch while Filter Curve is alive.

I guess I could launch two instances of Audacity. One clean and one in Filter Curve.

I’m looking for semi-real time.

Little more 400, Little more 400, Little more 400, Little more 400, Little more 400, Little more 400. OK about there.

Little more 1000, Little more 1000, Little more 1000, Little more 1000, Little more 1000. OK.

And etc.The instant the process goes to two or more key clicks, it’s a career move.

That’s why this one might be handy.

[ ] Play with curve repeatedly.
[ ] Stop

Every so often stop and compare the original.

The free Voxengo equalizer plugins will do that, plus A→B’ing …
