Fichier inaudible impubliable

Bonjour,
Hye!
My technical english is so limited that I prefere wright in french as I am. Perhaps I’ll find some one who understand and wright french correctely…
So :

Merci d’avance

I don’t speak technical French and the message is close to nonsense in a translation machine.

Your user will have to explain much more about what he is trying to do. What exactly is he trying to record, using exactly what device? Is he trying to record from an iPhone? If so he must play an already existing file on the iPhone and record that into Audacity.

Audacity does not record if it is placed on a web server and we do not have the resources to help you with the programming code changes to make it do so.

Audacity can record from a web browser connected to the internet, but 3G may be slow or have dropouts.

What are the actual symptoms of the problem - is it incorrect playback speed after you have recorded? If the song records too quietly you must increase the input volume or the output volume of the device.

We cannot tell you how to configure a device that records incorrectly at “42100 Hz” but I suggest you look at the Manual or help page for that device.

The following advice assumes your user is on Windows Vista, Windows 7 or Windows 8. He should state the version of WIndows.

  1. Set the device to record at a rate that it supports (look at its Manual).
  2. In Audacity (at bottom left of the window) set the project rate to the rate you chose in the device.
  3. In Audacity Device Toolbar, set “Hôte audio” to “Windows DirectSound”. See
    http://manual.audacityteam.org/man/Device_Toolbar/fr .
  4. Right-click over the speaker icon by the system clock, then choose “Recording Devices”. Right-click over the device then choose “Properties”. Then click the “Advanced” tab. Put a mark in both “Exclusive Mode” boxes then click OK. Now Audacity and the device should use the same sample rate.

If your user is on older Windows, it may be better to set the Audacity project rate to 44100 Hz and the “Hôte audio” to “MME” then set the device’s rate to 44100 Hz.

Hi Gale,

I think that the problem is about sampling frequency.
I was realised an interview with AudioBox USB Presonus and audacity. I think so audacity had a sampling frequency to 48000Hz but Audio Box capture interface had 44200Hz.
In the resultant recording is not good, extract file with problem is available here (recording with audacity 2.0.3) :
https://cloud.tousavospostes.com/public.php?service=files&t=674d8c21048f83fc27f0adee7c4b4159

Thanks for you help,
Sincerely,

Benoit

Thank you for the file. Is the file supposed to have two people taking at the same time?

If speed of the file is too fast, try clicking in the name of the track, then choose “Set Rate” (at the bottom) > 44100 Hz. This will slow the track down. Does it sound correct now?

USB interfaces like Presonus require sample rates and sometimes bit depths to be the same everywhere - in Windows, in the recording interface (Presonus) and in the recording software (Audacity). This will probably be one part of the resolution to the problem.

Also the Presonus must have the correct drivers. The user must say what version of Windows they are using (for example, Windows XP or Windows 7) or it will be too difficult to help them. When they tell you what version of Windows they have, tell them to go here http://www.presonus.com/products/AudioBox-USB/downloads and download the correct Presonus driver.

Then the user should download the Presonus Manual in French http://www.presonus.com/uploads/products/1460/downloads/AudioBoxUSB_OwnersManual_FR1.pdf . Ask them to look in Section 3.5 so they understand how to set Presonus to 44100 Hz or 48000 Hz sample rate in the Presonus Control Panel in Windows.

If the user is on Vista or later I recommend they set Audacity to 48000 Hz (as now) and also Presonus to 48000 Hz (using the Presonus panel in the Windows Control Panel). In “Sound” in the Windows Control Panel I recommend they turn on both “Exclusive Mode” boxes and in Audacity they should choose “Windows DirectSound” host (see my first reply for how to perform both those tasks).

If there are still problems, try opening the Audacity Preferences, choose “Quality” on the left and set the Default Sample Format to 24-bit.
