The quick version is I can’t post sound samples to the forum any more.
My older MacBook Air laptop was rendered obsolete by an advance in the forum software. I’m typing this on my new (and improved) MacBook Air. The good news is the forum lets me in now.
I tried to post a sound sample in response to a poster’s question and it failed (the sample, not the question). The sound file posts with the thick horizontal bar and up-arrow icon, and I see the play and volume icon graphic. It just doesn’t work.
I tried WAV and MP3 versions of the sound. They both play locally on three different players, including Audacity. I tried connecting and posting using two different browsers.
Any ideas? I can’t even sort how you could break something this way.
There’s a Magic Moment. A good 20 minutes later the sound sample above started working.
Dum Dum Dummmmmmm.
It’s never taken this long to upload a file. So I just have to wait?
There is one note. This laptop doesn’t have a fan. It’s supposed to automatically throttle its activities to stay out of heat trouble. I have had one other instance of taking a million years to complete a task. It took so long (how long did it take?) it took so long that the machine went to sleep and killed the job.
I wonder if I can get it to tell me when it’s throttling. It would be super good to know that.
