Within a month or so, on two different computers, one Windows 7 and one Windows 10, any file loaded into Audacity – wav, mp3, etc. – plays back any entire file within a few seconds sounding exactly as fast forward on a reel-to-reel recorder. I have checked same rates chosen for default, checked playback device sample rates, file sample rates, and checked this forum and could not solve this problem. Every other editor I have tried, AVS Audio Editor, Ocenaudio and VLC and Windows Media Player play all wav files correctly as well as mp3, aac, flac, etc. I have installed latest Lame mp3 and ffmpeg drivers. Same problem. I am using Audacity 2.1.2. Can anyone help me solve this problem? Thanks.
