Extracting voices from movie trailers

I was hoping there was someone out there that was pretty good at extracting voice overs from movie trailers. Basically, muting the entire movie trailer so you can only hear the voices in them. Thanks in advance!

Vocal Isolation is very difficult to do and Audacity has no built-in tools for it that I know of. Vocal Isolation is the search term. If the show is in mono, even the higher-end software packages are going to have trouble.

If it’s 5.1 or 7.1 surround, the voiceover is likely to be in the front-center.

But, you can’t count on there being nothing else in the center and you can’t count on having a surround track.

There’s also a good chance that the movie has 5.1/7.1 sound but the trailer is 2-channel stereo.

The odds are against you, but you may find one (or more) trailers where the voiceover is isolated.

That will be true in this case because of the 5.1 or 7.1 audio, but it can theoretically be done if you have a perfectly aligned, identical copy of the music then invert the music track.

It can also be done sometimes if you can perfectly remove the vocals using Vocal Remover. The trick then is to use Audacity’s Noise Removal (now Noise Reduction) effect to capture the vocal-removed track as a Noise Profile, then apply noise removal/reduction to the original track that included the vocals.
