I’m running Audacity on my old windows xp computer with version 2.0.3. which i paid for so i can use my vellman k8055 board to make light shows to music. I have saved several tracks which have there own light shows saved with the I/O extension , but i want to be able to combine them to one file. is there a way of doing this so when i have a party i can select a load of my saved light show tracks and play them like a play list…
Any help or pointers in the right direction would be much appreciated.
Audacity 2.0.3 has been superseded , and you need not have paid for it. Audacity is free (though donations via the Audacity web site are welcome: http://audacityteam.org/donate/)
The current version is 2.0.5 and is available here: Audacity ® | Downloads
What format are these files “with the I/O extension” ?
Hi, thanks for getting back so soon! the software i paid for was for AREMBEUSB ActiveX Control and Software Development Kit, this allowed me to use the external I/O in Audacity!
The file is saved as a “aup” file.
I have taken some screen shots which might help!
I’m not sure that I understand what you mean.
Are you using the vellman k8055 board as if it were a USB audio interface?
Hi the K8055 usb interface board is use as a digital output for controlling my disco lights, when i set the triggers on the I/O external output screen i can then position them anywhere within the sound track on the “Control Track” line and when the music reaches that position it will then trigger that output on the k8055 in turn switching on a certain set of lights using a solid state relay thus being able to have nice light show with the music!
Is that “I/O external output screen” something to do with your AREMBEUSB software?
Is that in Audacity?
Audacity does not have “control tracks” It has “audio” tracks, “label” tracks, “note” tracks and "time " tracks.
If you do mean that your “control track” is in Audacity, what sort of track is it? Is it an “audio track”?
Yes this is on the AREMBE Audacity, you chose “label track” then re name it to “Control Track” I think this is what the external I/O looks for, if you look up Arembe Audacity there is a small user manual for how to use the external I/O in Audacity but cant for the life of me find a way to combine all my saved music with lights together?
Ah ha, it all comes clear
Officially we don’t provide support for modified versions of Audacity (because we don’t know what modifications have been made or how it is intended to be used). Really you should be asking AREMBE about this. However, I’ll have a look and see if I can work out what they are doing. I’ll get back later today.
Unfortunately I couldn’t find out much.
Their version is only available for Windows or Mac and their documentation says nothing about combining multiple I/O data sheets.
The I/O feature is something they have added into Audacity, so we have no documentation about it.
You will need to ask them for support with that feature.
The only useful thing that I can find for you is their contact page:

Thank you very much for your time and help on this! I did try to contact them but got nothing back… That’s why i tried here! Oh well it looks like i will have to combine all the tracks to one and then start again that should keep me busy for the next few months
Thanks again!
