Exporting WAV 8-bit (mono) saves at .AIFF?

Hey Guys,

I’m trying convert some 16-bit mono WAV files to 8-bit mono WAV. When I go to Export Audio I have to set the File Type to “Other uncompressed files” to get a 8-bit option. I set the header to WAV (microsoft) and Encoding to “Unsigned 8-bit PCM” but what it saves is a .AIFF file!?!?! I need WAV format.

Tried this same thing on my Mac (OSX 10.9) and it does the exact some thing, saves the file as .AIFF rather than a .WAV file???

Any help how to resolve this issue would be great. Thanks!

UPDATE: Seems you need to add the .WAV extension to the name OR it defaults to a .AIFF extension.

Yes. That is an actual bug.

The bug is mentioned in the 2.1.2 Release Notes and has already been fixed in our source code so it will be fixed in the next 2.1.3 release of Audacity.
