Exporting Project (audio with labels)

I apologize if this has already been asked and answered (I did look, but didn’t see exactly the info I needed). I LOVE the label feature in the version 2.1.0!!! What I’m trying to figure out is how do I export a project, meaning and audio track with associated labels, as a project to other Audacity users? What I am hoping for is that I can send them the project, and then when they open it, it will launch in Audacity and appear just as it did on my screen (I’ve included a screen shot). When I save the project and open it on my own computer, it works just fine. But if I e-mail it to another Audacity user, they are not able to open the file. What steps am I missing? I did read the tutorial about creating a zip file, but when I do that, there is no associated data.

Thanks in advance for your help!!

There are two main difficulties in sending Audacity projects to others.

  1. There are two parts to an Audacity project, and both must be present. There is the .AUP file (a fairly small text file that tells Audacity about the structure of a project, and the audio data. When you make a recording and save the project, the audio is saved as little blocks in a “_data” folder.

  2. Audacity projects are big. They are even bigger than a CD quality WAV file.

With those two things in mind, see here for how to safely send Audacity projects to others: http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/audacity_projects.html
(it’s worth reading the entire article).
