I created a 3 hour DJ mix using pioneer equipment, edited it using Audacity and exported it to MP3, using:
Stereo
44100 Hz sample rate
Bit Rate Mode: Preset
Quality: 320Kbps
The file plays fine through Windows Media player, Rekordbox and through the Pioneer DJ gear. However when I upload it to a mix hosting website (Soundcloud, Mixcloud & HearThis) the file seems to be compressed to 9 seconds and skips through the mix. Is it an issue with Audacity or the way the MP3 has been encoded. Or is there anything else I can try?
Thanks for any assistance.
A couple of guesses…
I wonder if there’s a file size or playing-time limit?
Or, assuming your mix contains copyrighted music, they may be detecting and rejecting it.
Audacity uses the LAME MP3 encoder which is the most standard, stable, and popular MP3 encoder.
You can try exporting as WAV or FLAC and then use a 3rd party converter like to Kabuu Audio Converter to make an MP3.
