Export selected audio. Starting with version 3.4, a new audio export feature was introduced. Now I’m on Audacity 4.0.0 beta 4, and I still can’t save files like in version 3.3.3. Why? Please add this feature. I really want to upgrade to the new version, but I can’t because of the export feature!
as for the “why”, in short, Windows has two different file pickers, one of them is incompatible with the modern file explorer features (bookmarks, pasting/editing paths, dark theme, etc), the other is incompatible to being modified, so you can’t add bitrate, samplerate, etc. We chose to switch to the one that’s incompatible to being modified in preparation of the switchover to Audacity 4, as we couldn’t have taken the old one with us anyway as it had functionality and visuals deeply entangled.
Unless someone feels particularly strongly about re-building an entire file explorer from scratch to use in Audacity, I’m afraid the current solution will need to stay.
Totally agree, Audacity 4 completely loses the Metadata on export. All of the existing info then has to be added manually in the file properties again. Makes no sense whatsoever and is a deal breaker for me. I’m going back to Version 3 until this is fixed. Why are colors so much more important than functionality?
