Exclude background music and retain voice

Hi there,
Im new here and a noob at editing …
So i have en audio fille that’s come from a movie, so i wanna exclude or mute the background music in some parts but i want to keep the voices…
Now its just 1 channel and when the music play at the same moment are they taking so i wanna mute the background music effects and keep the voice but do not now how to do this…if tried it but then i mute or lower both and pffffffff… The plan is to exclude the music parts and replace them with a another effect or sound meanwhile to keep the voice’s.
Please help me out .

I started a new topic for you with a relevant title, rather than your attaching to someone else’s slightly different topic.

To cut to the chase, you cannot do what you want to do if the track is mono. If it was stereo you may be able to isolate the voice based on stereo positioning.

If all you have is mono all you can change is the audio frequencies (high or low pitched). The music will cover a wide frequency range and the voices a lesser range. So reducing the music will also reduce the voices.

Hi there,
First off all a want to thank you for helping , and sorry for the bad english…
if i look to the left top just left of the music grafic where you can lower or higer the sound or pitch it more to the left or right , there is a text (stereo 44100 ghz 32 bit float) So i think its a stereo channel … and if i click on the arrow i have the following options split stereo to mono ---- change stereo channel------ stereo trail split----- format----------rate…
So if its a stereo channel what are the stept that i need to perform to do what you suggest me to do ?
Best regards and greetings from Belgium.

There is no guarantee you will be able to cleanly isolate the voice, but see http://manual.audacityteam.org/man/tutorial_vocal_removal_and_isolation.html#isolate.
