Error code when trying to install Audacity

I am using Windows XP (Media Centre Edition) on a Sony Vaio. I installed version 2.0.3. After installing, I tried to launch the program from the standard .exe file and the zipped version. Both times I had the same error show up.

The error code says this:
“This application has failed to start because the application configuration is incorrect. Reinstalling the application may fix this problem.”

The error code number was 14001, though most recently it didn’t appear.

I’ve tried reinstalling the application about five times and it is not fixing the problem. What can I do?
I just today reinstalled my operating system for Windows XP. Before the reinstall I used the 1.3 version of Audacity just fine and edited many audio clips. Now this.

Sorry for the problem but it is mentioned in the 2.0.3 Release Notes and in this Frequently Asked Question .

Either of those have the solution.
