When I bring in a converted Pono flac file for editing (24 bit, 192 kHz), I can edit most of the waveform using Equalization… (the latest version of Audacity - 2.0.5), and even import XML equalization files that seem to work, but only above about 150-200 Hz. Below that point, I can edit the XML-imported EQ curve to cut low frequency peaks–and nothing changes in the resulting output tracks (using Ctrl-S to see the FR curves). If I save the XML file, exit Audacity, start-up Audacity again, load the saved XML file, it seems to clear the problem, but not entirely.
Is this a known bug?
This is odd behavior that I’ve not experienced on over 4000 audio tracks that I’ve remastered at 16b/44.1kHz (CD tracks) and even DVD-A tracks. Am I missing something?
Additionally, Audacity seems to be halving the sampling resolution of the output files on export (which I assume is a settings problem).
What you described is not a known problem, but CTRL + S would by default save an Audacity project, which made me wonder about the authenticity of the version you had.
We can’t retro-fix old versions but if the problem occurs in 2.1.0 we can do something about it. Please attach the XML file in question if there is a problem in 2.1.0 and give us steps 1, 2, 3 to reproduce the issue. Please see here for how to attach files: https://forum.audacityteam.org/t/how-to-attach-files-to-forum-posts/24026/1
