Electrical Buzzing Noise Throughout Recording

Hello,

I’m currently running Audacity 2.0.5 on my MacBook Pro running OS X Version 10.8.5.

I am trying to record a music mix from my Allen & Heath Xone:92 mixer with two pioneer cdj-900’s using a USB audio line-in cable bought from Ebay. (http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/380598195966?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649)

The plug in for the USB cable is a 3.5mm jack plugged into a splitter adapter for the 2 RCA record output on the Xone:92 mixer. The record output itself has a clean signal as I used it before as an input for speakers so I know that’s not the problem.

I have read through a lot of forums and tried using a different USB port, noise isolation/removal techniques and a different laptop to no avail. The noise sounds like a really poor quality audio signal as every noise has a sort of electrical ringing bell.

I just wanted to record a music mix and am at a loss as to how to fix this noise. Any help is much appreciated! Thanks.

I have attached a sample of the noise.

Cheers,
Brosnan

I’m bothered by the instructions that say the device is bi-directional, but doesn’t suggest how it knows when to switch. I’ve never heard noise like that. It may be just broken.

I’ve had very good luck with the Behringer devices. Here’s a UCA-202 on my mixer.

It will plug into any of the three major computer types.
