Effect tab

Hi there, I have downloaded the newest version of Audacity for windows, but most of the options under the effect tab are grayed out. The plug-in manager shows them as enabled when I look there, but they remain grayed out. What do I need to do?

Make sure that the audio is stopped before applying effects.

Ensure that some audio is selected.

Did you get it via the Audacity website? If not, you may not have the current version.

Thank you all for your comments. I did get it from the Audacity website and have version 2.3.3 for Windows. I will follow your suggestions to see if that takes care of the issue. Many thanks to you all for responding.
