Editing Help!!!

Hi, I am trying to trim out a two-second part of a voice recording (a doorbell rang).

I have, I thought, selected the segment I want to get rid of, then pressed the cut button. Nothing happened, so I tried the Trim Audio button. Still nothing happened.

HOW DO I EDIT OUT A BRIEF SEGMENT OF A RECORDING???

While the segment is selected (and you’re in Stop) Press the keyboard DEL key.

A cousin to that is Control-L which will silence the selection but leave it in place.

Audacity has very comprehensive UNDO, so if you mess up, UNDO it and start again. Audacity Projects will save all your tracks and layouts, but do not save UNDO.
