Editing from beginning of MP3 to a certain point

Hi,

I’m a little rusty with Audacity.

In my older version, if I wanted to edit from zero to a certain point (say 7 seconds in) I would grab the vertical line on the sound graph to the certain point I wanted to edit out and then select Region and in the drop don menu choose Start to cursor and then press the Delete button.

That doesn’t seem to work anymore in the new Audacity.

I then pressed the Play (right pointing arrow) and pressed the Pause button to see if I could cut out the beginning to a certain point but it did nothing.

Would you pls. refresh my memory of how I can cut with Region with this newer version?

Thank you so much.

Just single-click at the 7-second mark in the waveform area to set the cursor. Then your Region selection should work.

Alternatively you can click and drag between the start and 7-second mark to select (and then click & drag the end-points of your selection if you need to re-adjust).

Worked great.

I’m working in 5 different free software applications simultaneously.

I found myself working in Audacity but thinking in the video editing software’s
state of mind… Duh!

Sorry and thank you.
