No.
So as to support multi-track use, dropping a file into an open Audacity window will create a new track.
If you want to paste it into an existing track, select the new track (double click on the waveform), cut it (Ctrl+X), click on the existing track at the point where you want to insert it and then paste (Ctrl+V).
If you just want to replace a track, drag the file into the Audacity project and delete the track that you don’t want by clicking on the [X] in the top left corner of the track.
You can also import files from “File menu > Import > Audio”
