New to the forum so a big “Hello!” to one and all.
I have an M1 Mac Mini (Sequoia 15.1.1) and a Audio-Technica ATR2100x microphone. A Thunderbolt / USB 4 cable is used to connect the mic to the rear of the Mac Mini. Judging by previous historical posts I’ve read on this forum, I share an ongoing microphone recording issue with Audacity 3.7.1…
I press record and I get a recording. All looks good. Then, in the same session, when I go to record another vocal I get a dreaded ‘Error code: -9986 Internal PortAudio error’ pop-up.
For what it’s worth the problem details are as follows:
{
“timestamp”: 1736358074,
“event_id”: “b2e29cca6a02460c84214bbebd1685ca”,

“value”: “Error opening recording device.\nError code: -9986 Internal PortAudio error.”,
“mechanism”: {

}
}
]
}
}
The ‘more help’ link in the pop-up produces a page which has info regarding a number of Error codes but unfortunately this specific code isn’t one of them. I also note that the Error codes page hasn’t been updated for 10 months.
Can anyone please assist with regards to this issue? Cheers.
