When dragging a (large) file from Windows Explorer into the Audacity window, Audacity displays the “Importing (filetype)”… dialogue showing the progress of the import. Whilst it does this, Windows Explorer is blocked and you can’t interact with it.

If possible, make Audacity acknowledge the drag and drop immediately, then display the dialogue and import the file, releasing windows explorer for other operations. CF: drag and drop into other applications.

You can avoid the problem with the Windows File Explorer by using Audacity’s built-in file browser (“File menu > Import > Audio”).
