windows 7/32 on 500 gig hard drive 300 gig free … the tape is 67 min long… after recording the tape and click on save in original format, and mp3 it only saves 6 minutes of the file.

To create an MP3: File → Export, not File → Save.
Were you able to save your project (AUP file)?
Can you export to WAV? WAV is usually foolproof and it never hurts to create a WAV as a backup/safety net.
Did you install the LAME MP3 encoder? (It shouldn’t be using FFMPEG.)
after recording the tape and click on save in original format…
I’m not actually familiar with that option but the original format was analog tape, so that ain’t happening.
2.0.0 is very old, and if you really clicked on “Save in original format” then you have a modified version of Audacity that we can’t help you with.
I suggest you obtain the current 2.1.0 from Audacity ® | Download for Windows.
If you only export six minutes of the whole, then either you are out of disk space to export a longer file, or you had six minutes of the file selected then chose the option to export selection instead of export.

I have saved the file, and exported to wav, mp3 does not matter it only saves 6 to 7 min of the file … it does not save the whole thing. do I have to do ctrl a, and then tell it to save export file?
You would only need to do Ctrl+A if you do “Export Selected Audio”. The normal “Export Audio” will export all non-muted tracks from the start of the first audio clip to the end of the last non-muted audio clip. if the project contains just one continuous track, then (provided that the track is not muted) the normal “Export Audio” command should export the entire track whether it is selected or not. Of course there must be sufficient space in the place that you are exporting to. The maximum size for a WAV file is 4GB.
none of those are true with this file. I used the player to create the file, and after the creation, the file was too large to completely fit on screen, it only saved and exported the part that was on the screen (which was only around 6 min)
As explained we don’t make an Audacity version that has an option to Save in original format. Audacity is not a player - it’s an audio editor.
Your options are to ask the person/company who provided your modified version of Audacity (if that’s what you have) or obtain the current Audacity 2.1.0 from us at Audacity ® | Download for Windows and use it as we’ve explained (File > Export Audio…), making sure you have several GB of disk space before you export.
