Have some terminal server users who will be using this software and want to know if we have to install locally on their desktops or if Audacity can be installed on Windows Server 2012 R2. This OS isn’t listed on their site so I figured I would ask here to make sure. Thanks
Audacity should be run on the local computer, and needs access to local storage.
Audacity is not security hardened for running on a server, so it could pose security risks. Also, working with media involves moving a lot of data around, and when recording / playing, the data is required immediately. If Audacity has to wait for the network, recording / playback streams will be interrupted. The audio data must therefore be stored on a local drive.
