When I download Audacity 2.03 to my Mac Pro running 10.6.4 and attempt to open the download folder, I receive this message: "audacity-macosx-ub-2.0.3.dmg not recognized. What happened, or didn’t happen, as the case might be?
OK, you skipped a few steps in there.
The download seemed to work OK. You opened up Downloads and the disk image file (.dmg) was there. You dragged it onto your desktop and tried to double-click open it? What happens if you Control-Click it > Get INFO?

Thanks for the quick reply. Bear with me on this if you would please. I just bought the Mac Pro after using a G5 for years so a lot of this is brand new to me. I did exactly as you prescribed and it opened the Get Info. But what is my next step? Look forward to your reply. Cowboy Doug
All that should be needed is:
- Double-click the downloaded .DMG to mount it
- Then to install Audacity, copy the “Audacity” folder from the newly mounted .DMG to /Applications or any other location of your choosing.
- Launch Audacity from the /Applications/Audacity folder you chose in step 2. Don’t launch Audacity from the .DMG.
If the Mac won’t launch the installed Audacity program because it is “not from an identified developer”, please right-click or control-click on the Audacity application in Finder, choose “Open”, then in the dialogue box that appears, choose “Open”. You will then be able to launch Audacity normally on subsequent occasions.
If the download is corrupted, clear the download list in your web browser or download manager and try downloading it again.

We are up and running.
I’ve been a user of Audacity for years and just love it.
Thank you every so much.
