I am looking to deploy this software to our agency, but I need to disable the option for people to update the application. Is this possible via the Registry or any other automated solution?
You don’t need to do anything. Audacity does not automatically update. To update Audacity, you install a newer version over the top of the older version.
Correction I need to remove or hide the “Check for Updates” option.
There is no option to change that. Why do you need to?
Packaging in our environment is preferred to remove the option for anyone to update the application without management approval. If it’s not an option that is fine.
As with most programs, installing Audacity requires administrative privileges. If your computers only have standard user accounts (and no admin password), they will not be able to run the Audacity installer.
