I was searching for the sound output to NOT be my Mac speakers but Airpods and found the solution in the Device toolbar.
However, the toolbar itself is squished (not tall) so I could only just make out what I needed to change (far right, sound output).
Using v3.5.1.
The device toolbar is about half the height of the “Transport” toolbar - but there is no need for it to be higher. If you complain about its width: grab it with the mouse at the right end (the cursor changes to a symbol like <-|-> )and tear more to the right.
