Desktop arrangement

Hi
If I rearrange the desktop to my liking, how do I make it a global preference.

Thanks

Do you mean Desktop Icons or the arrangement toolbars of Audacity?

The toolbars on the Audacity desktop

I’m assuming that you have other user accounts on your computer, and when you log into them you want the same settings when you run Audacity.

All your personal customizations and preferences (including effect settings) are located here - C:\Users_user name_\AppData\Roaming\audacity.

Navigate to this location and you will see a folder called “audacity” right click and COPY this folder. Now navigate to the same location in your other accounts and PASTE.

The APPDATA folder is hidden by default so you will have un-hide it. Click on VIEW tab in windows explorer, and check HIDDEN ITEMS. The APPDATA FOLDER should appear.

how do I make it a global preference.

That’s dangerous. What do you mean by that? Are you planning on opening up multiple Audacity applications?

Once you push the tools around where you want them, they should stay there every time you open Audacity.

Those expanded sound meters have been there since I set them last year.

Further, unless you change it, an Audacity update will assume the preferences and settings you had before.

Nothing dangerous about it at all. I’ve done it - works perfectly.
