Dell (Realtek) line in not working

On Windows 10 I have the Line In port configured as the recording source and default device therefore. But I get no sound recorded through it. I do get sound through a Dynex USB-connected mic when I set it as the default.

I really want to record the Line IN. What do I need to do?

You may not have the right drivers, especially if you upgraded your old computer to Win10. Check your computer-manufacturer’s website for Win10 drivers. If you can’t get Win10 drivers you may need a new soundcard that does come with Win10 drivers.
