Deleting one channel

I have a situation where I would like to delete the right channel of a stereo recording only and then convert the stereo recording to single channel mono. It is a mono recording anyway so I don’t need stereo but I want to delete the right channel because there is nothing but harmonic feedback on it. Is there a way to delete the right channel only?

Thanks a bunch.

Use the Track Drop-Down Menu to Split Stereo to Mono, then press the [X] on the lower track to delete it.

You can set Audacity to record in mono in Device Toolbar.

Thanks much, I’ll give your suggestion a try.

Fyi, recording the track in mono alone would not have addressed my problem since it would merely have included the unwanted distortion in the recording, not giving me the opportunity to remove it.
