DC coupling?

I am trying to record a voltage from a microphone while keeping the DC component. So, I have to have the input DC-coupled. Is there a way to do this in Audacity, or do is it a hardware issue?

One of Audacity’s shortcomings is that it will receive, handle, and pass DC with no trouble at all. This causes all sorts of problems when your show is actual sound mixed with battery.

So it’s purely a hardware issue. You do need to know that Audacity will only do that with DC levels that do not exceed the peak values of sound. If you drive the pathway into clipping, it’s going to clip and damage the “show” whether the show is battery voltage or somebody playing the guitar.
