Just to add, a really easy way to quote a previous post:

1. Click the “Reply” button to open the reply edit box,
2. Scroll the page to see the text that you want to quote,
3. Select the text that you want to quote using your mouse / pointing device,
4. Click the “QUOTE” button in the top right corner of the post that you quoting.

The forum software will then copy the selected text into your new post, and place “quote tags” around it.

I see that you’re referring to the “POSTREPLY” button at the bottom of the thread page.
And by the scrolling you refer to the scrollable TOPIC REVIEW area below the POST A REPLY area.

OK, I’ve got it now too. That would never have occurred to me, given QUOTE normally opens a new message editing window.

I think I will continue to press the QUOTE button to reply, then copy the first

and paste it as needed in order to cite multiple text strings. Of course I have to type

at the end of each quote.

If I wanted to quote text from lots of different posts, I “might” do it Steve’s way.

But selecting text in the editing window (which requires you use the QUOTE button at right) then pressing the “Quote” button above the editing window also works to wrap the selected text in (unattributed) quote tags.
