I’m using version 2.0.3 and I’m unable to cut a section from the audio. I’ve looked at the different FAQ’s but nothing seems to cover my problem.
When i use the selection tool to mark where I want to start and drag to the end the audio starts playing. I’ve tried the crtl x and the scissor icon and they do nothing.

Press the yellow Stop button, then drag the selection in the blue waveform, not on the Timeline above the waves.
Dragging a selection on the Timeline does a one-time play of the play region that you dragged, and does not make or affect selections in the waveform. Please see http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/playing_and_recording.html#Playback .
