After making a recording from a cassetTe, i heard CROSSTALK OR ANOTHER TRACK PLAYING AT THE SAME TIME. IS THIS A LATENCEY ISSUE?
Can you tell if the crosstalk track was paying the right direction? Was it going backwards? If it was going backwards, then it’s crosstalk in the player. That or a tape problem.
Audacity tries to play all its tracks at the same time unless you tell it not to with the MUTE and SOLO buttons on the left. In that case, the crosstalk will be going the right direction. For example, if you played one side of the tape, hit stop on both Audacity and the tape, flipped the tape over and started recording again, you will get two separate tracks in Audacity and they will try to play at the same time.
Audacity will not apply effects or filters during recording.
Sounds like bleed-through, aka print-through, which is a problem with old tapes … Print-through - Wikipedia
And print-through would be right-side up. It would also be one reel revolution away from the current show, so, what? One second? Two seconds? Early or late depending on which layer printed?
