I have a 3.5mm male to male jack I hook up to my line in on my laptop to record stuff from my phone but it is a mono cable and I have other devices that are stereo. if I open Audacity and switch from stereo to mono after I set up what recording line I want to use and such, as soon as i hit the rec button Audacity crashes. Same occurrence when switching from mono to stereo. leaving it the the same channel (whether mono or stereo) doesn’t show this behavior. this always does this.
Thanks for the report. Please give us some more information to go on (see the pink panel above).
- What version of Windows?
- What version of Audacity (all three numbers at Help > About Audacity)?
- Where are you changing between stereo and mono - in Device Toolbar ?
- What is your input device in Device Toolbar (exactly as shown there)?
- If you choose Transport > Rescan Audio Devices in Audacity before changing recording channels does it stop the crash?
Have you read http://wiki.audacityteam.org/wiki/Updating_Sound_Device_Drivers to make sure the drivers of your sound device are the latest ones for your computer as supplied by the motherboard or computer manufacturer?
