Corrupt Audio File?

Greetings Forum Faithful,
I’m an Audacity 2.4.1 user with two questions:

First, I opened a previously recorded podcast and the waveform track popped up as usual. But, when I hit play I got silence. What do I need to check to hear the audio track?

Second, when I called up another podcast, the waveform track does not appear. I’m at a loss because right after I recorded this one I played it back and the waveform audio track looked and sounded fine. Does that mean the podcast was corrupted and the audio was compromised? When I made an MP3 file of it no audio was transferred. I sure don’t want to record the podcast again.

Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Wayne

How can audio files become corrupted between recording and playback? I recently recorded a podcast on Audacity 2.4.1. When I made an MP3 of it, the audio disappeared. Other than deleting the file, what could have caused that? I’m all ears when it comes to preventing a repeat performance!
Thanks for taking the time,
Wayne

If the audio disappeared from the Audacity project, that could be caused by deleting, moving or renaming the project’s “_data” folder.
