This one is a little bit tenuous!
Is it possible to predict (and therefore correct for) the frequency roll-off as cassette tapes age. In this case ferric oxide tapes without Dolby having been applied when recording.
Is anyone able to suggest optimal graphic eq settings to provide best possible compensation for the losses.
There’s no “standard” roll-off or standard correction. You’ll just have to do it by ear. Boosting the highs will, of course, boost the hiss.
You can try noise reduction for the hiss but listen carefully for artifacts/side effects to make sure
the cure isn’t worse than the disease.
You can also try a Harmonic Exciter which can add/restore high frequency harmonics that are completely missing.
