Copy vs. highlight to clipboard in v3.3.3

selecting a certain section of a track (call it Section A) using keyboard Control/c invokes the Copy command so copies Section A to the clipboard , available to paste into any other location. So far so good. However, then just highlighting another section (Section B) in any track, even without invoking the Copy command, apparently replaces Section A with Section B in the clipboard, so then invoking the Paste command for any cursor location will paste Section B rather than Section A there. Not good.

How can I use the Copy (or other) command to make Section A “stick” in the clipboard even after then highlighting other sections (without invoking Copy for them) for other purposes such as deletion?

Testing on W10 with 3.6.3 I cannot reproduce this.

Did the programming change for Copy between 3.3.3 and the current version. For W10 (or W11)?

Probably not - because I could not reproduce this here (on Mac).

Do you have a clipboard utility application installed?

Outside of Audacity or other app programs like Word, Excel, etc? I’m unaware of such thing.
