Hi Audacity users !

With Audacity 2.0.2 version, is it possible to work again for modifying files created under previous Audacity 1.2.6 version ?
What precautions do we have to take ?

Bonjour à tous,
Peut-on modifier des fichiers créés avec Audacity 1.2.6 en utilisant Audacity 2.0.2 ?
Quelles précautions doit-on prendre ?

Comment désinstaller proprement Audacity 2.0.2 ?

D’avance merci de votre aide

Sorry I do not speak French so I must reply in English.

Audacity 2.0.2 should be able to open both audio files that were exported from Audacity 1.2.6 and Audacity projects that were created with 1.2.6.

Note that Audacity projects consist of two or more parts. The “Audacity Project File” has a file extension “.AUP” and is one part of an Audacity project. The .AUP file does not contain any audio data - the audio data is separate. See here for more information: http://translate.google.com/translate?sl=auto&tl=fr&js=n&prev=_t&hl=en&ie=UTF-8&layout=2&eotf=1&u=http%3A%2F%2Fmanual.audacityteam.org%2Fo%2Fman%2Faudacity_projects.html&act=url

When a project created by Audacity 1.2.6 opened in Audacity 2.0.2, it is automatically converted to Audacity 2.x format.
If you save the project with Audacity 2.x then it will be saved in Audacity 2.x format.
Audacity 1.2.6 does not support projects in Audacity 2.x format.

There is a bug in Audacity 1.2.6 that means that occasionally some projects may not import correctly in Audacity 2.0.2 even though they may open correctly in 1.2.6.
Before saving an old 1.2.6 project with Audacity 2.x, check thoroughly that the project works correctly. If you are in any doubt or you do not have time to check, use “Save As” and give the project a new name so that the old project is not overwritten.

The recommended way to install Audacity 2.0.2 is to run the “Audacity 2.0.2 installer” (.exe) that is available here: http://audacityteam.org/download/windows
Audacity can be uninstalled in the normal way (see here for Win 7: http://www.wintuts.com/Add-Remove-Programs-nowhere-to-be-found)
