Converting a stream to a file

How do I convert a stream into a file that I can listen to on my MP3 player? This is not copyrighted stuff. I use Windows 7.

You can capture the stream (in real time) and save it as a file. Streams are intentionally prevented from bulk downloading (as a rule), so you can’t get an hour show in eight seconds. This is also assuming the show isn’t available as a podcast which is far easier to deal with than live capture.

Do you have any suggestions on a third party stream recorder that might work for me? I use Windows 7 and the computer manufacturer (Dell) told me that there is no such option for me on this computer and that I would need a third-party option for this to work.
