When I recorded myself reading a chapter of a book Audacity saved it as several .au files in a folder. I am needing to covert it to one .aup file (or preferably an .mp3) but I could live with an .aup. Whatever is fastest! What is the easiest way to do this? Thanks!
You need to have a read of this page from the Audacity Manual: http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/audacity_projects.html

Thank you, that’s what I was afraid of. My project finished with a Data folder but no .aup. Is there any way to get a .aup? I am not able to export it as an mp3 until I have both components - the .aup and the data folder.

Some very manual recovery techniques may be possible if your AUP (Project Instructions) file vanished after recording but before editing. If you edited the work, then manual recovery is no longer possible.

This is a more direct link if the user has no AUP file:
